Why aren’t low calorie diets successful? You are motivated to lose weight and you have decided to cut back on calories. You lose a few pounds but then you gain it back. Maybe you gain back more than you lost. This unfortunately is the tape that can play over and over again.

You’ve decided on a set number of calories that you wont go over in a day and you’re doing pretty well. Your goal might be 1250 or even 1000 a day. After a day or two of this your body goes into starvation mode and turns your metabolic system down so as to save fat. Exactly what you don’t need.

The fat isn’t going away but you end up losing firmness and notice drooping skin. The body is all about self preservation and it cant live long with such little food or so it thinks. This is a prime reason low calorie diets don’t work. I’m not even getting into the fact that you’re really HUNGRY also.

The bottom line of eating less is your appearance. But you wont be looking better with no firmness and the same old fat. You aren’t going to meet your goal this way. So the temporary weight loss you may experience isn’t really what you want or need.

You should be burning fat and that means eating right and doing some type of workout. Eating right means eating healthy. By eating healthy your metabolic system will be taking fat off and not muscle. When you eat the right foods you will be eating a lot so that you’re not hungry and still burn fat. You may lose some weight with low calorie diets but you wont be firming up or losing fat.

Have diets worked for you in the past? By consuming healthy food and doing a daily form of exercise, you ll be proud of the way you look as your body becomes firmer. You will have to avoid your habits from the past but the outcome is worth the effort.

You don’t need to do hard workouts either. If you will just take a little time each day to take a brisk walk and concentrate on becoming more active, you will send your body the message to really start burning the fat. Did you know that by eating correctly and exercising every day you will be burning fat even while you sleep?

Try to visualize the end result of the look you want. Think as if you’ve already gotten the body you dream about. Your self talk is important in you really believing that you can do this.
